CCTV: which way, and when?

Kelley Brannon CCTV footage, The Sunshine Inn, July 14, 2020

CCTV footage of Kelley walking in the parking lot of The Sunshine Inn exists. We’ve seen it. Clips of it on WCTV’s pieces on Kelley and Paramount+/Efran Films’ episode featuring Kelley. It shows Kelley walking to and fro, sometimes southeast toward Live Oak and sometimes northwest toward… well, there’s not much in that direction.

We haven’t, however, seen any sustained, unedited clip of this footage. The Live Oak Police Department has deigned that we see only curated clips, a second or two or her walking alone one way, then another. She never leaves the frame. She never interacts with anyone. It may be true that there is no footage of her interacting with anyone on the CCTV footage. The camera angle combined with the shape of the building prevented a clear shot of Kelley and Eddie’s motel room or Kelley’s car, if it was parked by the room.

What the CCTV camera saw

Of course, it neither confirms nor denies any of the given narrative of what happened on that far side of the motel: arguments, reconciliations, drinking and drunkenness, key stealing, going to bed, etc.

But what the CCTV footage must show is that, at some point, Kelley either walks off southeast toward The Live Oak Motel and town, northwest toward Pepe’s, northeast toward Lime Ave., or she disappears from view by the motel room and doesn’t reappear. You can’t walk behind The Sunshine Inn as the fence is locked.

Witnesses claim that she walks off with her guitar on her back. That would have to be on CCTV footage, right? Let’s see it. Which way does she go? Is that not an important clue for the public to know? What does the CCTV footage show that makes this information worth keeping secret? Usually, in missing persons cases, this kind of information is not kept under wraps. It would instead be used to jog the memory of folks near the path of possible abduction.

What are we not understanding?
